Snow blades

One of the special features that sets Alpine Adventure apart from other exercises is our use of Snow Blades. These are very short (90 cm) long skis that are not only great fun but help to develop skiing technique. Blading is consistently one of the most popular activities on Alpine Adventure with the cadets.

Every cadet is normally able to spend half a day on blades during the week under the tutelage of a specialist ski leader who likes to be known as the 'Blade Dragon'. Cadets learn very quickly under the 'Blade Dragon' and soon have enough confidence to perform 180 and 360 degree turns on the snow.

Blades are a great aid to developing parallel skiing. They turn very easily thanks to their shape and make it much easier for cadets to learn to carve by getting their skis onto their edges. The blading experience pays off when cadets return to their longer skis with greater confidence and improved technique.

Exercise Alpine Adventure has its own set of snow blades that are issued to cadets. The set has been extended over the years and the latest additions enables cadets with very large feet to blade.
